As we know, all the cells in your body (except sex cells) contain the exact same amount of DNA. This means that by getting a hair follicle or skin cells, we can decode your entire DNA sequence.

Why is this useful?

• The ability to sequence human, Plant, bacteria etc DNA, allows us to understand the similarities and differences between species on a molecular level.

• We can look at your DNA and determine if you are susceptible to a particular disease or if you children will be susceptible

• Criminals have no where to hide, even with a single cell, we can identify an individual

• Investigate endangered species in an effort to conserve and understand them.
